This design was developed durring my time teaching at Columbia GSAPP with class TA Da Ying, This model served as a testbed or ‘class model’ to help explain more advnaced casting techniques to the class. Its unique geometry allowed the single module to be flipped and rotated in any direction to form the seemingly organic pettern you see. Numerous digital and physical prototypes were made, the final being fabricated on the CNC as two parts.
